Humpty Dumpty Laughed & Waved     (October 1992)

’T’was upon a wall that Humpty sat

Suddenly he slipped and landed "splat!"

The men and horses of the king were stuck

Before very long poor Humpty was muck.

Scattered and broken the pieces they lay

White and yolk both rotted away.

The Crier announced that Humpty was dead

Throughout the kingdom tears were shed.

With fine white hands meticulously the Queen

Mended the pieces and wiped Humpty clean.

She made up a yolk and made up a white

Thus Humpty Dumpty ended his plight.

He sat on his wall with bow-tie and smile

The courtiers and public walked down the aisle

The Queen she curtseyed the King he bowed,

The people all praised the Queen out loud.

Humpty Dumpty laughed and waved

The kingdom and palace at last were saved.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Clapped and cheered and went dancing, Amen.
